Rekkiabilly bring a bone shaking musical cocktail of Swing, Rock ‘n’ Roll and high spirits to the party, …filled with the most authentic vintage ingredients.
The band hails from Puglia in southern Italy and their fiery songs, written and sung in Italian and English, are guaranteed to get the joint jumpin’.
The group was formed in 2005, combining the creative talents of singer-songwriter and guitarist, Dario Mattoni and saxophonist, Lidia Bitetti, and has been exporting its distinctive swing/rockabilly sound across Europe ever since. Following some experimentation with the group's formation, Rekkiabilly has recently strengthened its line-up by welcoming an explosive brass quintet.
Rekkiabilly has shared the stage with the likes of Jon Spencer, Après la Classe, Giuliano Palma & the Bluebeaters, NewYork Ska-Jazz Ensemble, Vinicio Capossela, Max Gazzè, Banda Bardò, Folkabbestia, Punkreas, Michele Zarrillo, Arisa and many others. The band has performed on stages at some of the most renowned venues in Europe including Micca Club (Rome), Bloom (Milan), White Trash and Road Runner (Berlin), Sean McD's (Dublin), Kaf Fur Dik (Zurich ) Sziget Festival (Budapest), FIMU (Belfort), and Hutball (Dresden). The band is currently working on a new album, Spaghetti Jive, which will be released in March 2024.
